The Center for Civic Engagement is standing up for National Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week, November 10-16. Visit their webpage for a full calendar of events and how you can help!

The 2012 "Use Your Voice" campaign focuses on how one voice can educate, empower, and inspire change within the population. Use Your Voice provides information about finding a cause to believe in, effective ways to Stand Up, how to Walk the Talk by turning thoughts and words into action, and how to Amplify one voice to inspire others. Use Your Voice brings awareness to how your values, language and tone can improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities. The Use Your Voice campaign focuses on the following topics:

    • Stand Up - Sometimes how you say something is as important as what you are saying. Learn how to find what you are passionate about and the most effective way to speak out. Whether in protest, in letter form or even within a friendly conversation, standing up is about finding a cause and the time, place and position to communicate your message effectively.
    • Walk the Talk - Standing up for a cause or educating others includes your actions. Walk the talk means employing behaviors that promote change, such as choosing to buy products from companies that share your values, voting, volunteering for causes you truly believe in, or being a role model to family and friends.
    • Amplify - People notice someone who speaks up and walks the talk. How do you use your voice to inspire others? Learn how to get connected to others who share your passion and how to amplify your message to a greater audience.
